Network Switches
SVSi’s technology utilizes common managed network switches to create virtual AV matrix switches in any size and configuration. The low cost and availability of gigabit Ethernet layer-3 switches with dynamic multi-cast routing capability from numerous manufacturers allows great flexibility in network construction. Alternatively, layer-2 switches allow static video routing over virtual local area networks (VLANs). In both cases, switches must be properly configured.
We recommend a complimentary pre-sales network design review with a SVSI factory representative to ensure your network (existing or purpose-built) is designed and provisioned with the capability and configuration required for your application.
This design review is especially important when project requirements call for convergence on an existing data network and should include the IT manager of the network. As a service to our customers, SVSi offers pre-configured switches and switch accessories optimized to work with our networked AV products. Due to the high bandwidth and deterministic nature of the video and audio traffic, our products impose non-standard requirements on a switch infrastructure different from that for data. SVSi does not offer a complete selection of switches and accessories but has limited our offering to those most suited for networked AV distribution. This does not mean that a reliable video distribution system cannot be designed and constructed using other switches, stacking connectors, and fiber uplinks than those offered by SVSi – only that what we offer has been tested and verified with our products.
